Spike Strip

Spike strips are designed to stop and disable vehicles. This technology has the potential to support multiple missions
including:

• Force protection
• Vehicle checkpoint operations

They are a hand emplaced, prefabricated strip of materiel with embedded, hollow steel spikes used to impede vehicle
progression. Spiked strips cause a rapid deflation of tires within 10 seconds, allowing for controlled deceleration at
access control points and checkpoints. Multiple Services employ this device.
