Active Denial Technology |
|
Active Denial Technology is designed to deny access into/out of an area to individuals, move
individuals through an area, and suppress individuals. This technology can create a heat sensation causing involuntary movement away from the beam.
Active Denial Technology has the potential to support multiple missions including:
- Force protection
- Crowd control
- Patrols/convoys
- Defensive and offensive operations
The Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Program is leading a Department of Defense effort to develop the next generation of Active Denial Technology.
Several efforts are underway to identify new millimeter-wave sources.
These efforts include work on miniturized tub-designs and adaptations of solid-state technology.
The conceptual next generation system will allow for reduced size,
weight and cost and allow for instant “turn-on” and “shoot-on-the-move” capabilities.
